Paris: the magnet for lovers and their affairs. This is where sleepy relationships rekindle, the flames of passion ignite and where that special someone is to be met. The topic of love and romance also seem to be the ever-returning theme of the French capital's Gay Pride, together with a strong political message in favour of equal rights for the LGTBQ community. In a procession of striking colours, contagious gaiety and a great deal of amusement, the now legendary "Marche des fiertes lesbiennes, gaies, bi & trans", proclaims its protest against all forms of discrimination and putting an end to homophobia.
Last year’s pride was marked by a superlative performance by the gay icon, Liza Minnelli. On Parade Day, spectators could get a peak at this joyful celebrity, screaming “Freedom” from the top of her lungs on a gigantic float, while dancing with the Parisian mayor Bertrand Delanoe.
The 2010 edition of Paris Pride Parade can once again be relied upon to have a glam-packed party up its sleeve. The glorious and flamboyant Pride Paris Parade commences June 26 at Place du 18 and will work its way through the city, passing along marvellous avenues such as Boulevard du Montparnasse, Boulevard St-Michel, Boulevard St-Germain, eventually crossing the Seine at Pont de Sully, and finishing at Place de la Bastille. With an exquisite mix of ear-splitting music and gaudy outfits, this is one parade that is hard to miss.
After the actual march, people will have prosperous opportunities to revel till the early morning at one of the manifold parties organized throughout the city.
