Promoting diversity in all its vibrant colors, Thanet Pride annually aims to bring the entire community together for one big, marvelous and festive happening. However, despite the glam-packed party atmosphere, the Pride also addresses more serious matters, in order to make awareness of the still occurring rejections and phobias many from LGBT community faces on a daily basis. The Thanet Pride aims to bring together literally everyone irrespectable of age, nationality or sexuality in a celebration of who they are in a fabulous, fun-filled, family-friendly day out.

Last year, Margate again played host to its annual pride event on the sea front in Marine Drive. This was held on the 18th of July, 2009 and boasted live entertainment, fair ground rides, cabarets, markets and stalls. The whole Margate Pride was as always a free event, aimed to attract not only the LGBTQ community but also a great day out for families looking to join in from the local community and beyond.

A warm welcome awaits the participants of this year’s Pride when Margate's seafront once again becomes a huge rainbow of colourful flags, dazzling costumes and a myriad of music and laughter. Taking place on 24th July, this extravaganza will include stalls and a fun fair as well as superb stage entertainment with “The Pride Icons Show” featuring first-class tributes to Lady GaGa, Freddie Mercury, ABBA, Karen Carpenter, and George Michael, along with top drag performer Kitty Monroe and London Band Moon Shot.
